Doc Laurence Skinful and Body Specialist- IPL Hair Removal Underarms plus Whitening Review

Unwanted hair? If the answer is Yes, IPL is probably one of the things you thought about to solve that problem. Bought a Metrodeal voucher for this particular problem, worth Php99. ^^ I’m cheap what can I say? Haha!

Anyway, about Doc Laurence, here’s what I have to say:

1. Schedule- Schedule weeks before just to make sure, most especially if you see that there are a lot of people who bought vouchers. I am sure that they will try to get good slots. But in my part, it wasn’t hard to get a good slot because I called them quite early.
2. Location- It’s (un)conveniently located in Marikina, but for those of you who are near Marikina, well good for you. Anyway, it’s easy to spot. There’s a salon at the first floor and then the clinic is at the second floor. It’s located in Unit 37-B Bayan- Bayanan Avenue, Marikina.
3. Comfort- The place where the procedure is done is actually near the receiving area. There’s just a curtains there. It’s okay. You can move around.
4. Staff- Very very friendly.  So accommodating that I forgot that I paid only Php99 for the treatment. I found their staff more accommodating despite the price tag. Two thumbs up. Plus the doctor there was very nice and friendly too.
5. Procedure- First, they ask you to sign a form, then a waiver allowing them to conduct the procedure. Then, their attendants, who are nurses, ascertain that you fully know what you’re getting yourself into (not in a threatening way) and make sure that you fully comprehend the procedure and what to expect, which was very nice (even if I already knew everything she said before going there), in short a very good informed consent. Next, they will clean the area up. Pulse it (This time it felt like being flicked by a rubber band because I had hair). They gave two shots per underarm. (They might have given more shots if I paid more for the deal). Anyway, then for the whitening treatment, they gave was it three or four shots per underarm, which was not painful, as opposed to the two previous shots. The whitening cream was then applied at the end.
6. Reminders- Make sure that you read about IPL, and that there are certain conditions where you cannot have the treatment, such as:
a)      if you have red/blonde hair,
b)      if your complexion is dark to very dark
c)      taken certain meds like Tretinoin etc. (You better read about this in another place)
d)      also before treatment you should: not have plucked/waxed the body part to be treated, and also make sure (according to the staff) that you should have hair left in that area during the treatment.

      7. The Fine Print- No hidden charges! The first coupon I bought that didn’t have hidden charges.^^
      8. The Results- I can’t say. Probably , I will see it after all the treatments are done.

IN GENERAL- A very good deal indeed! I would recommend the place to the people near the location. And as opposed to IPL’s price in other places, I would say that it is worth the pay. ^^

NOTE: I have no intention of helping or harming the establishments that I have posted on my blog. I just genuinely want other people to know what they are paying for and what to expect. I highly encourage other people to blog, because I depended on a lot of blogs and forums so that I would know what I’m doing and paying for.

Californian Bloom Aesthetic and Medical Spa- Unlimited Warts and Mole Removal Review

Did anyone ever have that nasty wart that you just hate seeing or a mole that everyone says looks disgusting. Well, we all have our nasty bits, so I bought a voucher from Groupon, for Php250 per body part. I took this deal because unlike the other deals, which would give you unlimited wart treatment-- it included moles, which was definitely rare.

Here it goes:

1.  Schedule- I don’t know why, this place doesn’t seem to have a lot in their schedule. They just told me to go there any time I wanted, which was very convenient indeed! But don't forget to schedule your appointment still.
2. Location- That’s the big problem. It was a hard place to find, I didn’t take a good look at Google Maps before I went there. But generally, it’s on the 2nd floor of a building adjacent to St. Joseph College, (I think).  If you see a KFC there, it’s along that road. If you want the exact location go check out their site. Exact location: 295 Eulogio Rodriguez Sr. Ave, Quezon City.
3. Comfort- It was quite comfortable. Wonderful interior, but the inner room where the treatment was held was OK. They just took some time to set things up for the procedure.
4. Staff- Quite accommodating and nice.
5. Procedure- Before anything starts, they ask you to fill up a form, just like in any clinic, and I have to tell you that it is an actual clinic which has a dermatologist. Anyway, you are asked to lie in bed and all your warts and/or moles are covered with a topical analgesic or in layman’s term they put a cream on them so that you won’t feel the pain when they cauterize you. Read more on cauterization in discussions. Anyway, they cover it up (warts/moles to be treated and surrounding area) with cling wrap or the thin plastic that you use to cover the food in your fridge, for 45min-1hr. After which, your attendant goes back and then the cauterization starts. They start by cauterizing your warts/moles away. It feels painful, most especially for warts because they don’t use lidocaine or an injectable anesthetic so that you don’t feel the burn of the cautery tip, but then, if you do feel too much pain, tell the attendant, probably she’ll give you a lidocaine shot. For moles, they ask their derma to look at it first and with the go signal, they will infiltrate, or put lidocaine underneath the sites of where the mole/wart lies. This is so that you won’t feel pain when the procedure is done. For me it was a completely tolerable procedure, considering that I have a very high pain threshold. During the procedure you will smell the scent of burning skin. The pain is tolerable. It’s like having a lot of ants bite you. For the injection, it’s just like having an ant bite you and put something under your skin.
6. The fine print- if you don’t have an anti-inflammatory and an anti-bacterial cream at home, the attendant will advise that you buy some. They have some worth Php300, for both the anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial cream. You cannot wet the body parts treated for a certain period of time, I think 24hrs? I forget. ^^ Use the anti-bacterial cream twice a day for was it 7 days? And the anti-inflammatory cream for 3 days maybe. I forgot the details. Anyway.
      7. The Results- I am now unwanted mole and wart free!

In GENERAL- It was a very good call. I saw from their “MENU” of services that it costs somewhere near Php1500 for the procedure, and I’m not sure if that is unlimited, as opposed to the Php350 plus Php300 for the meds, a total of Php650, that I spent. I’m very happy with the procedure, although the downside was the fact that the place was not easily accessible for me in particular.

NOTE: I have no intention of helping or harming the establishments that I have posted on my blog. I just genuinely want other people to know what they are paying for and what to expect. I highly encourage other people to blog, because I depended on a lot of blogs and forums so that I would know what I’m doing and paying for.

Skin Metro- IPL Hair Removal treatment Review

Did you ever have problems with body hair? It’s okay if you’re a guy, but of course for a woman you would feel less feminine if you have those nasty bushes growing everywhere. To tend to that problem, women tend to use an assortment of methods, such as waxing, plucking, shaving etc. For those of you, who are like me, who was not blessed with a hairless body, here’s what I chose to do: IPL Hair Removal. Even if discussions say that it’s not a permanent way to lose hair, well, at least it’s a way to reduce hair. So, because of that I chose to buy an Ensogo Skin Metro voucher.

Anyway, about Skin Metro, here’s what I have to say:

1. Schedule weeks and weeks ahead- If you bought yourself a voucher, a lot of people also thought what you thought, and that is: It’s affordable, so I’ll buy a voucher. So make sure that you contact Skin Metro weeks before to get a good schedule.
2. Location-  It’s conveniently located in Makati, very near Makati Med, so if you go to the back of Makati Med, where there’s a building that’s brown and it say’s Medical Plaza-- that’s the place. Remember to bring an ID, because of course there’s security there. It’s (un)conveniently located on the 20th floor.
3. Comfort- The interior is OK. There’s space to move, that’s all I have to say. The rooms are quite small, but for that price, I guess it’s OK.
4. Staff- They are okay, I guess. I got the treatment I paid for.
5. Procedure- So, before they start, they ask you to sign a waiver. Read the waiver very well: the main idea is that you do not hold them liable for anything untoward that happens to you, and that they are not medical professionals and they are just trained with the procedure. Okay, so on with the procedure: depending on the body part, it will take about 10min (small parts) to 30min (larger parts) in theory. The feeling? Well, at that instance I did not feel the “rubber band being flicked onto the skin” because I shaved the area. Anyway, the feeling was okay, the probe was warm to very warm on the skin. The staff reminded me to make sure I have hair next time.
But very curiously, I saw IPL discussions before and it said that you have to shave the body part to be treated so that it won’t burn. Anyway, whatever, probably it’s just a way for the staff to know that that part has been treated or for you to think that the procedure worked. The staff then tells you to not wet the area for 8hrs or was it 16? I forget.
7    7. The Fine Print- Be sure to bring extra money. For a typical IPL underarm/upper lip session which is your smaller bits, they ask you to pay Php400 for their “calming cream”, and a soap for about Php200, which I read from another review. But for me, I had no choice but to let go of Php450 for their “calming lotion” which I did not use (Ahem). My legs didn’t get inflamed so I didn’t need it. Anyway, you just buy it for the first procedure. The staff kind of gave me no choice but to buy the lotion. I didn’t want to buy it. Anyway. It seems that with Skin Metro you can have a procedure once a month. I’m not quite sure, but it says in discussions that a certain week interval is needed before undergoing the next procedure, but I’m not the expert.
     8. The Results- I don’t know yet. I guess there has been a decrease in hair growth, but I am not quite sure. Will tell you the difference after the procedures I bought. ^^

IN GENERAL- I guess it was a good deal, paying for just like one treatment, because one treatment costs Php2000 (according to what I saw when I was looking at the different procedures they were doing).

I guess what I have to say is that, before you go and say you got ripped off because of the coupon that you bought, you have to be a wise buyer and find reviews about the product/treatment they are selling, know the price, and read articles about the pros and cons about a certain thing before you impulsively click on the “BUY” button. Happy bargain hunting!
