Did you ever have problems with body hair? It’s okay if you’re a guy, but of course for a woman you would feel less feminine if you have those nasty bushes growing everywhere. To tend to that problem, women tend to use an assortment of methods, such as waxing, plucking, shaving etc. For those of you, who are like me, who was not blessed with a hairless body, here’s what I chose to do: IPL Hair Removal. Even if discussions say that it’s not a permanent way to lose hair, well, at least it’s a way to reduce hair. So, because of that I chose to buy an Ensogo Skin Metro voucher.
Anyway, about Skin Metro, here’s what I have to say:
1. Schedule weeks and weeks ahead- If you bought yourself a voucher, a lot of people also thought what you thought, and that is: It’s affordable, so I’ll buy a voucher. So make sure that you contact Skin Metro weeks before to get a good schedule.2. Location- It’s conveniently located in Makati, very near Makati Med, so if you go to the back of Makati Med, where there’s a building that’s brown and it say’s Medical Plaza-- that’s the place. Remember to bring an ID, because of course there’s security there. It’s (un)conveniently located on the 20th floor.
3. Comfort- The interior is OK. There’s space to move, that’s all I have to say. The rooms are quite small, but for that price, I guess it’s OK.
4. Staff- They are okay, I guess. I got the treatment I paid for.
5. Procedure- So, before they start, they ask you to sign a waiver. Read the waiver very well: the main idea is that you do not hold them liable for anything untoward that happens to you, and that they are not medical professionals and they are just trained with the procedure. Okay, so on with the procedure: depending on the body part, it will take about 10min (small parts) to 30min (larger parts) in theory. The feeling? Well, at that instance I did not feel the “rubber band being flicked onto the skin” because I shaved the area. Anyway, the feeling was okay, the probe was warm to very warm on the skin. The staff reminded me to make sure I have hair next time.
But very curiously, I saw IPL discussions before and it said that you have to shave the body part to be treated so that it won’t burn. Anyway, whatever, probably it’s just a way for the staff to know that that part has been treated or for you to think that the procedure worked. The staff then tells you to not wet the area for 8hrs or was it 16? I forget.
6. Reminders- Make sure that you read about IPL, and that there are certain conditions where you cannot have the treatment, such as:
a) if you have red/blonde hair,
b) if your complexion is dark to very dark
c) taken certain meds like Tretinoin etc. (You better read about this in another place)
d) also before treatment you should: not have plucked/waxed the body part to be treated, and also make sure (according to the staff) that you should have hair left in that area during the treatment.
7 7. The Fine Print- Be sure to bring extra money. For a typical IPL underarm/upper lip session which is your smaller bits, they ask you to pay Php400 for their “calming cream”, and a soap for about Php200, which I read from another review. But for me, I had no choice but to let go of Php450 for their “calming lotion” which I did not use (Ahem). My legs didn’t get inflamed so I didn’t need it. Anyway, you just buy it for the first procedure. The staff kind of gave me no choice but to buy the lotion. I didn’t want to buy it. Anyway. It seems that with Skin Metro you can have a procedure once a month. I’m not quite sure, but it says in discussions that a certain week interval is needed before undergoing the next procedure, but I’m not the expert.
8. The Results- I don’t know yet. I guess there has been a decrease in hair growth, but I am not quite sure. Will tell you the difference after the procedures I bought. ^^
IN GENERAL- I guess it was a good deal, paying for just like one treatment, because one treatment costs Php2000 (according to what I saw when I was looking at the different procedures they were doing).
I guess what I have to say is that, before you go and say you got ripped off because of the coupon that you bought, you have to be a wise buyer and find reviews about the product/treatment they are selling, know the price, and read articles about the pros and cons about a certain thing before you impulsively click on the “BUY” button. Happy bargain hunting!
NOTE: I have no intention of helping or harming the establishments that I have posted on my blog. I just genuinely want other people to know what they are paying for and what to expect. I highly encourage other people to blog, because I depended on a lot of blogs and forums so that I would know what I’m doing and paying for.

ReplyDeleteI believe that like any skin treatment, effective application of Intense Pulse Light can only be achieved when done correctly. It is highly advisable to consult a board certified doctor who specializes on the procedure for assessment. So better choose the right people to contact with.

Pink Parlour
Great post, beautifully written as always
ReplyDeleteI had IPL abroad and the staff there (licensed Laser Aesthetic Technicians) told me to shave the area and that you shouldn't pluck or wax. The first 3 sessions have 1 month interval to let the hair grow. After that, 3 wks interval is fine for the next sessions but you will notice that the growth of the hair becomes slower than usual.
ReplyDeleteI would recommend going for Diode Laser hair removal. Based from experience it really effective compared to other hair removal treatment.
